The Linguistic Voice Studio is the culmination of a lifelong obsession with the English language—examining and re-examining syntax. The journey began in the pages of storybooks, which I devoured as a child. In an era when school days moved more gently, I spent hours immersed in another world. I even read under the guise of 'revision'—my Science textbook conveniently propped to hide my storybooks!

Every Saturday, I embarked on a trek down the five-foot ways of quaint shophouses in the city, navigating chaotic traffic and intersections to reach the old National Library at Stamford Road. I didn't learn English through rigid, systematic drills. I learned by deep exposure—pausing, doubling back, and examining language whenever a sentence produced a powerful effect. This habit pushed me to edit and re-edit my own writing relentlessly until it wasn't just 'correct,' but the absolute best version it could be.

Years later, when I began teaching, I realized that these writing instincts couldn’t just be handed over on a platter. I became obsessed with a single question: How do I teach explicitly that which is often left to guesswork? To bridge the gap from instinct to understanding, I mapped out my observations of syntax, structure, and semantics into charts, graphics, and visual frameworks.

That obsession with precision is the engine behind this studio. I don't just teach vocabulary; I teach students to recognize patterns and manipulate the rhythm of prose to improve the musicality of their writing. Drawing on my own early struggles with summary writing, I guide students through a clear methodology to sieve, distill, and synthesize text—ensuring every single word earns its place.
